Sites often list several different kinds of 'random key', phrasing one set as a standard random key and another as a form of premium key, but the premise remains the same.

Yes, there is the potential to get a game that isn't outright scam chaff, but your odds are like winning a sizable sum of money on a scratch-card. Highly unlikely, and padded out by a huge lie of omission.and to sustain the numbers of the previously-free or previously-bundled games. In these cases, the supply of keys are often 'farmed' from limited pools on giveaway sites, promotional freebies and bundles, often going directly against the terms of service (and part of the reason why bundles have enforced price tiers or one-purchase policies now).

To summarise : These are used to turn a profit from people unfamiliar with bundle-tracking websites or free game indexes. What you are buying is a lottery scratch-card where instead of just losing, you get given a farmed key, and your odds of getting a 'win' in any sense is next to nil. This could be forgiven if they were up-front about how it works, but it is portrayed as a 'random' key.
